My teen asked me for Charm. What is it?
Charm is a photo app for staying in touch with close friends. When your teen sends a photo, it appears on their friends' watch faces, like a small picture frame on the wrist — and their friends' photos appear on theirs the same way.
Made for close friends
Charm is meant to be used with close friends only. It's built for keeping up with friends your teen already knows in real life, not for meeting new people or seeing content from strangers. Photos are only ever visible to the friends they were sent to — there are no public posts and no public profiles.
Friends are added from phone contacts, by exact username, through an invite link, or from a group chat they're both in. There is no search for new people and no suggested friends, and a friend request only goes through if your teen accepts it.
No likes, feeds or algorithms
Charm doesn't have likes, follower counts, or an algorithm choosing what to show. Photos come from friends, newest first, and there's no endless feed to scroll. Friends can comment on a photo, and only the friends who received that photo can see the comments.
Charm does have a streak, which counts the days in a row your teen has shared a photo and resets if they miss a day. Some teens enjoy keeping it going and others ignore it — nothing is lost with it except the number itself.
Safety and reporting
Any friend can be hidden, removed, or blocked from the friends list, and the other person is never notified. Any photo can be reported directly from the photo itself. The report includes the photo, so there's nothing to describe, and the person who was reported doesn't find out. A real person reviews every report.
Screen time
Charm doesn't include its own time limits. If you'd like to set some, Screen Time on iPhone and Family Link on Android can both limit Charm specifically, and both are protected by your passcode.
